At the start of every year, you just have to open any social media app, magazine or news website to see a list of ‘new wellness trends’ guaranteed to help you meet your goals. These vary from nutritional tips, fitness programme to simple ‘hacks’ to make you feel that bit better. 2025 is no different, with everyone trying to show their new morning or night time routine and how it can help you feel your best self.
But what if these ‘new trends’ weren’t so new after all? What if they were actually over 3000 years old, based on ancient practices that were tried and tested? At Dosha, we’ve noticed the huge rise in wellness trends that are based on Ayurveda, the Ancient Indian ‘science of life’, which encourages natural and holistic practices for your wellness.
Here are a few wellness trends we are seeing a huge resurgence of and the reasoning behind them:
1. Drinking from a copper bottle
Copper bottles are seeing a huge increase, and not only because they look great! Copper bottles are great for drinking water out of as they can help with the absorption of iron and support your immune system as it is a natural antioxidant, making it a staple in Ayurveda for centuries.
2. Ashwagandha (everywhere!)
Ashwagandha seems to be the ingredient of the moment, recognised for its incredible effects on your mental wellbeing, providing a sense of calm, aiding with good sleep and relaxation. Surprisingly, not many people know the origins of it, or that it is an Ayurvedic ingredient! Native to India, Ashwagandha is often taken in powder or pill format these days (but we love it best in a can of the Raspberry & Mint flavoured Dosha!)
3. Castor Oil packs
Google searches for ‘castor oil’ rose significantly towards the end of 2024, and a lot of people are incorporating castor oil packs in their bedtime routine. Castor oil has been used in Ayurveda for centuries, known for its detoxifying and digestive properties. Increasingly, people are following the practice of pouring a small amount of castor oil in their navel before bed, to aid digestion.
4. Turmeric shots
Turmeric shots have been popular for a while now, with many people starting their day with a shot to encourage vitality and wellbeing. Turmeric is a staple ingredient in Ayurveda, known for its amazing anti-inflammatory properties. When taken alongside pepper or ginger, you can get an extra fiery kick, perfect for boosting your immune system in the colder months (or you can have it in our Lemon & Peach Dosha to support your natural energy!)
5. Consuming ghee
Ghee is clarified butter, and something that has been a staple in Indian cooking for centuries, used as a base instead of oil to cook spices and vegetables. Ghee is rapidly growing in popularity in the West for its delicious taste and great health properties including aiding digestion and enhancing brain function, and is now used in a lot of restaurants in the UK.
At Dosha, we absolutely love that Ayurveda is being recognised so widely, and its our mission to bring the wisdom of Ancient Indian wellbeing to the West. So next time you are thinking about a trying a ‘new’ wellness trend, why not check out its back story and you may find out that these are actually tried and tested wellness practices from centuries ago!
